Airbnb Seed Pitch Deck Redesign Concept
A concept redesign of Airbnb's original 2008 seed pitch, AirBed & Breakfast: the same story of a two-sided marketplace, rebuilt as a compact, visual-first deck where the problem, the solution, the market, early traction and the business model each land on one slide.
Concept project · Designed by Gul E Lala Khan as self-initiated work about Airbnb, a travel marketplace. Not commissioned by the brand; the numbers shown are illustrative.

about this project
Turning an idea into a clear story. The challenge was to communicate a startup concept through a compact, visual-first presentation. The deck needed to balance narrative, supporting imagery, key numbers, and business information while keeping the story moving from problem to solution. The subject is the original AirBed & Breakfast pitch from the 2008 seed round: book rooms with locals, not hotels.
A visual language built for clarity. The visual direction combines bold sans-serif typography, generous white space, photographic storytelling, and bright pink accents. The problem slide states it plainly, hotels are expensive and local life is disconnected, with two sides of the marketplace that have an unmet need: travelers, hosts, and the gap between them.
Designing the reading flow. Each slide uses a combination of headlines, supporting content, images, and data to guide the viewer through the story. The layouts shift between text-led compositions, process explanations, and metric-focused slides, which creates rhythm while keeping the presentation focused on one core message at a time: a simple way to stay with locals, search, book, pay; the market in three numbers; early traction of 2,500 nights booked; and the booking revenue equation.
Design principles: clear alignment and grouping, contrast between primary and secondary content, visual balance across different slide types, and consistent spacing and component placement.
